New Beginnings

This 80-bed transitional housing and job-training facility for homeless men and women is part of a larger homeless-support campus at the former Hamilton Air Force Base. At the perimeter of the site, a restored native woodland savannah establishes the landscape context for the campus.  Gardens offer educational and therapeutic opportunities, where residents have added pathways, community gardens, and a labyrinth. JNRA collaborated on all aspects of the site planning and public approval process, and prepared the landscape construction documents. The plans created a structure for ongoing enrichment and adaptation by residents over time as part of their training and tenure.
